Group Lessons

Ages 4-5

This is the perfect introduction to golf for your little one. All participants receive a book called Let’s Play Golf by Nicole Weller. The information it contains provides everyone with an age-appropriate structure for this fun program. Each session is 45 minutes long — and includes a snack break.

Ages 6-12

We use the U.S. Kids Golf Learning Program, a game-based learning program that is fun and is perfect for this age group. The program becomes more difficult as players advance through each of the three levels. The Level 1, 2 and 3 booklets provide the framework for both coaches and parents. The booklets provide instruction and examples of forms and skills, and each level has checkpoints in five core areas: Putting, Around the Green, Full Swing, Knowledge and Scoring. As an incentive to advance through all the levels, players earn an achievement pin each time they complete one of the checkpoints. To reach a new each level, players must play nine holes from at least 1,500 yards and meet the scoring requirement.

Ages 9-12 Advanced Juniors

This program is designed for active, young golfers who play regularly. It focuses on helping them advance and improve their skills.

Ages 13-17

For teens, we offer two programs. One is for those who are passionate about the game and want to become increasingly competitive in the sport. The other is for youth who want to play golf well with their friends.

Elite Junior Program
The Elite program is designed for serious junior golfers who are actively participating in competitive events, will be playing or are playing high school golf and have the intention to pos-sibly play at the collegiate level. The Elite Program is taught by Ed Oldham, PGA Master Professional and two-time Colorado PGA Teacher of the Year.

13+ Pre-Competitive
Our 13-up Pre-Competitive program is for junior golfers who are new to the game or those busy with other sports and activities. Fundamentals are taught in a fun atmosphere. Junior golfers will learn about putting, chipping, wedge play, full swing and playing the game.

PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League is a fun, team event for kids 13 and under. Similar to other sports, kids wear numbered jerseys that bring a little bit of “Little League” to our course. Our PGA Junior League team includes boys and girls ages 9-13 and competes against other clubs both home and away. Participants receive team jerseys, golf balls, bag tags, 5-6 regular season matches, weekly practices and an opportunity for post-season play.

Family Tees

Family tee

The Ranch Country Club offers a is a PGA Family Course. It features two sets of “Family Tees” available for anyone to use — but they’re specially designed to help kids learn and enjoy the game by giving them a course that is scaled to their size.

If your child plays from the appropriate Family Tees, two good shots would be either on the green on a par 4 or near the green. Learning the game becomes more balanced between full swing and short game — and there are fewer scoring obstacles for young golfers to overcome.

A special scorecard available in The Ranch Country Club’s golf shop includes a list-ing the yardages from each Family Tee for each hole. Markers on cart paths show golfers ap-proximately where to find the Family Tees.

Children with a driver carry distance of 100 yards or fewer would benefit most from playing from the Family Blue Tees. Children with a driver carry distance of 100-140 yards benefit most from playing from the Family Gold Tees. Children with a carry distance of more than 140 yards may be ready for the 5 Horse Tees.

Club-fitting for Kids

Your child’s clubs should be scaled well. Clubs that are the correct length and weight allow kids the best chance of developing their best swing. They also:

  • Make hitting good shots easier
  • Improve trajectory to help get the ball in the air
  • Create proper swing plane
  • Assist in developing swing speed and tour-like tempo
  • Develop hand speed, enhance rotational ability and overall balance

The Ranch Country Club’s golf shop is open to members and non-members and sells US Kids Golf Equipment — the best golf equipment available for kids today. Allow our professional staff to recommend a size and a set makeup for your child. You can walk in, or schedule an appointment by calling the shop at (303) 466-2111.
